Robert J. Hoshowsky is the author of three True Crime books. OUTRAGED: The Murder of Shoeshine Boy Emanuel Jaques, documents one of the most horrific crimes in Canada, and reached #1 in sales on Amazon.ca in Canadian History. His first book, The Last to Die: Ronald Turpin, Arthur Lucas, and the End of Capital Punishment in Canada, was shortlisted for the prestigious Arthur Ellis Award. Hoshowsky’s second book, Unsolved: True Canadian Cold Cases, continues to sell a decade after it was published.
Published in over 100 magazines and newspapers worldwide, Hoshowsky has profiled serial killers including Jeffrey Dahmer, John Christie, Leonard Lake and Charles Ng, Sheila Labarre, and Andrei Chikatilo.
A former Researcher-Reporter at Maclean’s magazine, Hoshowsky regularly appears on television discussing unsolved murders and disappearances. Recently he served as an on-camera expert for Hours to Kill, a 26-part True Crime murder series for Cineflix airing worldwide.
Hoshowsky appears regularly on TV. A dynamic speaker, he has served as an on-air expert for real-life crime series including The Last 24 (2017) airing on Discovery ID in the United States. He is a regular guest on Dr. Lee Mellor’s Murder Was the Case podcast.
As of 2021, Hoshowsky is updating and republishing Outraged and working on several new books, including a controversial Depression-era story about one of Canada's first serial killers.
